GroundSwell Music was founded in 1991 by Ian McKinnon to meet the management needs for his group, Rawlins Cross. With a focus on East Coast Canadian artists, GroundSwell Music provides artist management and record label services to its tight-knit roster. Our aim for each of the artists we work with is to help develop their career at home and abroad building long-term, sustainable careers in the music industry.
To assist with the needs of our artists, GroundSwell Music works in close partnership with an ever-growing network of industry partners around the globe, including: labels, global digital distributors, publicists, radio trackers, publishers, booking agents, sync agents and digital marketing specialists. Our in-house partners include: Codapop Studios, Full Chisel Music Publishing and Iron Tulip Audio.
In 2015, GroundSwell Music expanded into event and festival production. Current festivals include: The Blacktop Ball, a music and camping festival, and The GroundSwell Music Festival, a celebration of East Coast music, food & drink.
Over the years, GroundSwell Music has won a number of industry awards including: East Coast Music Awards and Nova Scotia Music Awards for Company of the Year, Manager of the Year and Industry Professional of the Year. Our artists have also received numerous nominations and awards for their projects including: Rising Star Recording of the Year, Group Recording of the Year, Music Video of the Year, and Rock Recording of the Year.
