Canadian Music Café Returns For Its 10Th Year This September

Returning for its tenth year this September, the Canadian Music Café capitalizes on the international attention placed on Toronto during the Toronto International Film Festival® to bring the very best in new Canadian music to the ears of film and television music supervisors and the filmed media community gathering at TIFF.

With alumni such as Lido Pimienta, Lowell, Kroy, JP Saxe, City and Colour, Hannah Georgas, Rose Cousins, Charlotte Cardin, Doomsquad, Martha Wainwright, Scott Helman and Dear Rouge, the Canadian Music Café has consistently been a launch pad for rising Canadian talent, facilitating connections that lead to song placements in films, television programs and commercials, including The Bold Type, Grey’s Anatomy, Kiss & Cry, Reign, Mary Kills People, Are You The One?, Degrassi, Castle, Beauty and The Beast, Ugly Betty, The L Word and more.

The 2018 edition of the Canadian Music Café takes place September 10th and 11th in the heart of downtown Toronto (venue to be announced soon). Canadian artists are encouraged to apply for showcase consideration: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CanadianMusicCafe2018

“The Canadian Music Cafe is an impeccably curated music supervisor and film executive dream event. I am so impressed with every aspect, from the caliber of musical talent, both emerging and established, to scheduling and execution.   There is no better way to discover music than through live performance and what the Cafe manages to do so beautifully is host an intimate event that delivers top-notch music while providing a platform for music and film executives to connect with talent and keep the creative conversations going after the festival.  That’s what it’s all about.  The Canadian Music Cafe during the Toronto Film Festival is one of the best in the business. Period.” says Tracy McKnight, Music Supervisor (The Hunger Games, Beasts of No Nation, Outsiders, Casting Jon Benet)

The Canadian Music Café is a joint initiative produced by the Canadian Music Publishers Association and the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) whose mandates are to support and advocate for the Canadian music publishers and the Canadian independent music community respectively. Canadian Music Publishers Association and CIMA graciously acknowledge that the 2018 Canadian Music Café is made possible with the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and the Government of Canada’s Department of Canadian Heritage.
